Q and A

About Alternative Medicine

Overview

Modern Western medical science has produced great achievements in biochemistry, technology, and pharmacology. Over time, the overall health of many people has improved from medical advancements.

In today's societies, all possible methods of modern medicine should be considered for individuals with life threatening illnesses, or in need of urgent medical care. In particular, a combination of allopathic and alternative medical methods may be the right choice for people with such conditions.

In less than 10% of all clinical cases, an allopathic - alternative medicine approach is applied. However, a unity of these practices is the way of new Millennium Medicine, and cooperation between professionals of both disciplines is most beneficial for people.

What is alternative medicine?

Alternative medicine is just that - an "alternative" direction of medical science, based on certain principles. Alternative medicine is not "quackery", trickery, or simply derived from the imagination. As a form of allopathic medicine, alternative medicine has its foundation in anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and other fundamental sciences. Unfortunately, modern medicine has seemingly nearly lost sight of the main principle of medical science - to treat patients, not just diseases.

The right way to help: do no harm

In Western society, alternative medicine is most closely aligned with the principle of helping patients without causing them harm. In highly developed Western societies, daily life operates at a "high temperature", yielding an accelerated and intense daily lifestyle for many people. As a result, practitioners of allopathic medicine have attempted to remain flexible and adaptable enough to maintain their relevancy, and address the medical needs of people living in these societies.

Indeed, allopathic medical treatments have become much more aggressive, regarding surgical and therapeutic methods, and have yielded symptomatic results quickly. However, as a consequence, the notion of etiologic or pathogenic treatment has been lost. As a result, the condition of many people with acute diseases has worsened, advancing to chronic stages, and requiring them to take medication for the remainder of their lives. This requirement, subsequently, causes side effects, and has "opened the gates" for additional complications.

The human organism

The human organism is an open ecological system, in constant self-regulation and self-renovation. Because of these features, the human organism is "alive", and able to heal itself from countless disorders. The human organism is able to heal itself without any external intervention. However, if helped in the proper way, this living organism is able to heal itself from ANY kind of disorder.

Stress leading to disease

Most diseases have one reason in common - stress. Stress leads to metabolic imbalance and the development of disorders in the body. Weakness of an individual's specific systems or organs results in different kinds of pathological conditions. This is also a result of the body's response to stress on the system.

In certain instances, physiological stress is influenced by or a result of genetic problems. However, in most instances, physiological stress is a result of a poor or imbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, and lifestyle decisions. Therefore, our own choices of how to live and what to eat can greatly influence the physiological stress our bodies experience.

Mobilizing the human body for self-healing

In contrast to modern allopathic medical practices, alternative medicine involves searching for ways to help the body mobilize and use its own sources for self-healing.

That is why alternative medicine incorporates the use of supplements for treatment. Typically, these supplements are derived from natural resources, such as plants and minerals. In general, the supplements are designed to work cooperatively with the inner regulatory systems of the human body, such as muscular activity, self-cleansing and self-protective mechanisms, and extremely fine neuro-regulation (brain activity).

Active substances akin to living cells can be useful to restoring normal functions of a cell. Non-alternative medical treatment methods may involve the use of concentrated chemical substances, aggressive surgery, radiotherapy, and other invasive methods. However, these methods can potentially cause a wide range of complications.

Promoting health and healing by reducing risk

Concentrated chemical substances can force cells to change their metabolism and biochemistry. However, these changes can cause serious and irreversible damage to cells or cell mutation. Additionally, aggressive surgery, radiotherapy, and other invasive methods damage those structures that can be used by the human body for restoration, maintaining normal immune activity, or circulatory activity.

In contrast, alternative medical treatment methods attempt to prevent additional trauma to the human body, by bypassing invasive procedures or intensive drug therapy as primary treatment methods. Healing effects may occur more slowly through use of alternative medical treatment methods. However, such methods promote stability during the human body's healing process, and reduce the risk of complications.
